Nars Sheer Glow

"Aaaaammmm your skin is glowing... Why is your skin glowing?"

Good! I count that as a win.  In fact whenever my self-declared grease monkey boyfriend notices any detail of my makeup I count it as a win. The "glowing" comment was particularly good considering it was my first time wearing Nars Sheer Glow foundation. It does exactly as it says on the tin apparently!

I've heard so many rave reviews about this foundation. It has a massive cult following so I had high expectations leaving Brown Thomas with my new buy.

I've never bought anything from Nars before, it was always a brand that slipped under the radar for me. But I have to say, I've been converted! The whole experience was a positive one! The girls at the counter weren't the usually "snotty" makeup girls who you can tell are judging your makeup.. I don't want to make this another "bad MAC experience" post (if you haven't already gone down that rabbit hole on YouTube, do! It's a mass a snobby entertainment!) but I've more or less completely stopped buying from the brand.

At the Nars counter the girls there were helpful and didn't try to sell me a foundation colour that was overly dark. Always a good thing! The coverage is medium but buildable. For the first time in years, apply it with my grubby fingers!! Less wastage and the application is even. I only have to use one pump, versus 2-3 when using a brush or beauty blender for the same level of coverage.

I've been bitten by the Nars bug! Expect more posts along these lines

TV Choice Awards 2016 Best Dressed

The 2016 TV Choice Awards were last night and here's a quick round up of who I think the best dressed are!

Holly Willoughby
I'm going to start with the best.  Goals. GOALS!!! This woman can do no wrong!!! She is perfection. I'm not even going to say anything. I'm just going to stare at the picture in awe and wish I looked like that.

Catherine Tyldesley
Simple, black, elegant. I think she could have done with a necklace or maybe a belt, but she's definitely on the best dress list!

Katie Price
Not a fan of the new-new-new boobs, but this dress is fab! I love a backless dress and the think the toned down makeup sets it all off perfectly!

Fearne CottonFearne can do no wrong. I love this! I love everything about it and I'm not even lying! Look me in the eye and tell me you wouldn't dress like a ballerina princess if you had the opportunity!! See! You can't! She's just missing her wand and tiara. I'm pretty sure I have ones she can borrow....

Faye Brooks
When will this trend end?? When will people realise that non-colour silk and a thigh high slit on a tight skirt isn't flattering on any skin tone or any shape? If you're reading this and think you can pull it off; you can't. I don't think Faye looks bad, she's on trend, and a very, very beautiful woman! It's just one of those trends we're all going to look back on in tens years time and cringe.

Thank you all for reading!

A Very Quick OOTD

I love Outfit of the Day posts! Maybe it’s because I’m nosey, maybe it’s because I’m lazy and can just copy what people are wearing.

Unfortunately I’m still learning and I only have one picture and um... you can’t really see the whole outfit.... I think I’ll have to start asking people to take OOTD pictures for me if these posts are to continue.  But that’s incredibly awkward, so we’ll see!

I went quite a bit out of my comfort zone with this.  The first reason is that I went into Zara in the Crescent Shopping Centre when I’d sworn to never go in there again!  The merchandising is upsetting and the staff are unfriendly.  But I can’t resist a bargain.  And there was a sale on and and and and...... I’m only human!!!!  So I went against my better judgement and bought navy shorts with birds on them and I couldn’t be happier!

When I first picked it up I thought it was a skirt, so was pleasantly surprised when I went to try them on!  Perfect for out irish summers when I’ll mostly have to wear them with tights while battling wind and rain.  Joys of it!

Crop tops are not my thing.  I picked this one up in Pennys and still have no idea why, but I’m glad I did!  While I’m still not comfortable baring my midriff to the world, it was definitely a lot more comfortable wearing this rather than battling with tucking a top in all day!

You can find the shorts here :) !!

So have a forgiven Zara in the Crescent?  No.  I haven’t.  It’s a depressing store to walk into.  Will I still shop there?  More than likely yes.. and I’ll probably still leave every-time swearing not to go in again!

Inglot, Inglot, Inglot, Inglot.....

If you follow any of the beauty blogs, especially ones here in Ireland, you might just have come across the title of this blog post before...  Inglot, Inglot, Inglot, Inglot is literally all I am hearing these days!  The brand has been getting such rave reviews that I have been dying to find out if it would meet the hype.  So, queue up a trip to the Crescent in Limerick and me just randomly wandering into the Inglot store........ For nothing more than “a look.”

I bought three things.

As a brand, Inglot seems to fall somewhere between “drugstore” and MAC.  Price-wise, each thing I bought was under €15 - so far so good!  This might be controversial but I am a firm believer that MAC is generally overpriced.  So if I have found a brand that matches the quality for much less money I’ll be a very happy bunny!

Now let me start by saying I’m not a massive lipliner fan.  Some may say I have been “blessed” (it may not necessarily be a blessing!) with fairly full lips and I find that the wrong shade of liner will just result in me looking like a clown.  Not a good look... However, the Soft Precision Lipliner no 67 is possibly the best natural lipliner I have ever bought!  It matches the natural colour of my lips perfectly.  It lasted a lot longer than any other liner I have bought for similar money and the fact that I like it at all says a lot!  If I had to pick a downside it would probably be the pigmentation.  It’s not the best ever.  I found myself having to go over the lines about 3 times to get the intensity I wanted.. But I suppose it is called Soft Precision..  Over-all this is definitely a winner!

Now for the lipstick!  Here we fall back into the worry of the clown territory.  I only EVER wear nudes; dark nudes, or pink nudes, or nudes with a slightly purple tone, or nudes with a slightly brown tone, or nudes that look like skin.... you get the idea!  Well I played it safe and this was no different!  225 is a pinky nude, and it’s shimmery...... There’s not much more I can say... It’s a staple and worth a buy! Oh it had a surprisingly nice smell!!  But other than that, a very safe choice...  Safe is good sometimes though....

Onto the real winner; Eyeliner Gel 77.  It is a black, black, black eyeliner that doesn’t move even if you want it too!!  Every time I where eyeliner it transfers onto my crease or smudges in my waterline, but this didn’t budge! I put it on at 8am and at 10 o’clock that night it was still fresh!  You do need a good eye-makeup remover to get it off, but that’s a small price to pay!  Honestly if you’re struggling with eyeliner this on is definitely worth a shot!  Just be aware that a little goes a very long way.  I learned that the hard way!

Right, blog no 2 down!  I’ve never written about makeup before, and wasn’t really sure what should be said.. but hopefully it was at least read-able! :)

See you again soon!

I Have Zero Willpower.....

Do you ever pass a sale and think to yourself “I’ll just go in for a look” knowing well that you’ll leave the store with two dresses, one top bought in four different colours, a pair of shoes, two pairs of skinny jeans, a handbag, 3 skirts, and a puppy?  Yes.  We have all been there.  This, however, was not one of those occasions, this genuinely was an innocent browse with no intention of buying anything.

Did that really happen?  Ha!  Of course not!

I saw a dress.  It wasn’t even a particularly nice dress.  I looked at it once and thought to myself how nice the colour was, and aimlessly put it back onto the rail.  You usually can’t go wrong with French Connection, but this dress was very...... meh.  Other than the colour it wasn’t particularly eye catching.  But for some reason I kept coming back to it... No matter how many times I wandered over to the other side of the shop to look and shoes, bags, I always found myself back at this dress!

It was clearly a sign.

I still maintain it is not that nice on the hanger.  But when put on, oh my god!!  The colour didn’t wash me out (always a winner with my pale, Irish skin), the shape and cut was form-fitting, but still classy, cut just above the knee....

Oh and here the clincher...... 50% off.

How could I not?!

And so begins what I imagine will be a running theme on this blog; “how could I not...” I say to myself to lessen the guilt as I spend money I probably don’t have.......  Who needs food anyway!!

And with that......

Welcome to the Pink Box.
